Sergio Aguero agreed to sign a new five-year deal with Manchester City to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium until after the 2019 season, the club announced on Thursday.

Aguero, who scored 17 goals and had three assists in 20 English Premier League games last season, said that the new deal is a proof that he has no plans to leave Manchester City contrary to previous rumors linking him to a possible move to Spain.

"The reality seems to be that ever since I came here, during every close season, there have always been rumors suggesting that I might be returning to Spain," Aguero said. "There has always been this speculation but I certainly never pay much attention to it."

Aguero, who has netted a total of 75 goals in 122 appearances for Manchester City since moving to the club in the summer of 2011, insisted that he has no plans to leave the club and that he intends to finish his contract in England.

The 26-year-old striker also vowed to prove that he deserves the new contract, saying that he will look to help City win more silverwares in the near future as he is not contented with the two Premier League titles that they won over the past three seasons.

"Each year, I aim to better the previous one," Aguero said. "Last season was incredible but I'm not just satisfied with two Premier League titles, I want more and I can achieve them here alongside my teammates. This club is special; the fans, the stadium, the staff, the atmosphere, the new facility we're moving into -- everything."

The Argentine international became the fifth Manchester City player to get a new deal this summer after David Silva, Vincent Kompany and Samir Nasri also got a new five-year contract from the club, while Aleksandar Kolarov extended his stay at the Etihad through the 2018 season.

Veteran forward Edin Dzeko, who scored 26 goals in all competitions for City last season, will also reportedly get a fresh contract before the upcoming English Premier League season.
