According to multiple reports, Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh will most likely be playing elsewhere next season.

Suh has expressed his desire to play in New York. Technically, the Buffalo Bills are the only National Football League team that play in the state of New York, but most people believe Suh was referring to the New York Metropolitan Area.

Recently, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed defensive tackle Gerald McCoy to a seven-year, $98 million contract extension with more than $51 million in guaranteed money. So, how does that impact New York football teams or Suh? The market in the offseason will always be willing to pay top quality players, sometime even more than they're worth.

If the Buccaneers paid McCoy $98 million, how much could arguably the best tackle in the game get?

The New York Giants have always had top quality defensive players over time (Lawrence Taylor, Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, etc.) but they prefer building, not buying. The Giants are one of the best drafting teams in the league, and they very rarely overpay for players. If Suh would be willing to take a pay cut to play with the Giants, then that would certainly open the door to play in a Big Blue uniform. However, in this league, Suh has to get his guaranteed money while he can.

Suh is currently under contract with the Lions until next season, but he can opt out. Suh is scheduled to make $11.55 million this season and $3.5 million next season. The 2014 NFL trade deadline has come and passed, so only Suh can determine his future for next season.

The Jets have been one of the worst teams in the league this season, just 1-7. The Jets have lost seven games in a row and most likely head coach Rex Ryan will be fired after the season. Not long ago this team had an elite defense led by Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. Signing Suh could be the first step in a long rebuilding process.

Since entering the league in 2010, Suh has 31 sacks, which is very impressive for a defensive tackle. Suh is also very good at stopping the run and he has missed just two games in his entire career. Those two missed games were because of a suspension in 2011.

The Jets have a lot of salary cap space because general manager John Idzik has not invested in a lot of talented players. The New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills are playing much better than the Jets and none of those AFC East teams have plans of rebuilding soon.

With Suh wanting to play in New York and the Jets having so much salary cap space available, this should be a great fit.
