The 2016 NBA All-Star game is coming to Toronto, and the Toronto Raptors are looking to the assistance of one of the music industry's biggest stars, Drake. The Canadian rapper has been recruited by the Eastern Conference team to play his crucial role as host, business partner and consultant for his home team beginning in 2014-2015 season.

NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver made the announcement, marking the first time Toronto will hold the league's annual showcase, in honor of the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Toronto Raptors. An NBA All-Star game usually generates about 100 million for the host city.

"I truly feel that - I mean everywhere I go I realize how culturally diverse it is here. What a melting pot it is... There's something genuine about this city. There's something great," Drake said during this week's press conference. "I think aside from that with All-Star coming here there's an untapped nightlife, restaurants, culture. There's so much to soak in and I think that our goal is in 2016 to truly showcase that, not only for the players, but also for everybody."

In addition to global ambassador partnership with the Toronto Raptors, Tim Lieweke, president and CEO of Maple Sports and Entertainment, says that the Young Money artist will also help the team to revamp their franchise, including logos, colors, uniforms, etc. and its image, as well. Drake is also planning to launch a clothing line with the Raptors.

Lieweke comments, "We're already talking about fashion, we're talking about films, we're talking about food, we're talking about all the things... that are the trademark of this great city. We certainly see it as an opportunity to let everyone see all the phenomenal parts of Toronto."

The NBA All-Star game will be held in New Orleans in 2014 and in New York in 2015.
