On Saturday, October 6 at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Halle Berry and her husband Olivier Martinez welcomed their new son, Maceo Robert Martinez into the world.

The newlyweds, who married this past July, dug through Martinez's mixed French and Spanish roots to find a name that gave a nod to both Martinez's Spanish ancestry and his father, Robert Martinez, a Spanish boxer.

Maceo (compare to contemporary names like Matteo or Matthew) is a name of Spanish origin that was popular in the 9th through 14th centuries, and it means 'Gift of God'.

According to reports, Martinez, 47, thinks that his newborn child is a true gift, and is ecstatic about the arrival of his son, evident by the name mirroring his. Maceo is Martinez's first child, and his marriage to Berry is his first -- though he did have extensive relationships with Mira Sorvino, Kylie Minogue and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Berry, 47, is experiencing motherhood for the second time, however, already mother to 5-year-old Nahla, whom she had while with former flame and French Canadian model Gabriel Aubry. Prior to her marriage to Maritnez, she was been married twice before, to David Justice (1993-1997) and Eric Benet (2001-2005).

Martinez and Berry's blended family seem happy. Before giving birth, Berry and Martinez were seen at a family bowling outing; and just this past Monday, Martinez was seen hand-in-hand with step daughter Nahla as he took her to the pumpkin patch, where she slid down slides and examined produce.
