With Charlie Hunnam dropping out of the Fifty Shades of Grey film, all eyes are on Matt Bomer. Will the actor please his fans and step into the suit of the seductive Christian Grey?

Despite fans' pleas and panties, Hunnam, who plays Jax in FX's "Sons of Anarchy," will no longer be fulfilling the role of Christian Grey. Grey is a kinky businessman who seduces the young Anastasia Steele, played by Dakota Johnson of 21 Jump Street, and also represents a very sexual role. Now that Hunnam is now longer in the picture, fans are hoping that Bomer, who gained fame in USA Network's "White Collar," is up to the part.

When E.L. James, the author of the erotic novel from which the movie is based, announced that Hunnam and Johnson would play the lead roles, fans quickly made a petition on Change.org requesting Bomer and Alexis Bledel, former star of The WB's "Gilmore Girls," instead.

"Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too. So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING," @donttouchmypatch, the creator of the petition, said in the petition's description.

As of today, the petition has 87,633 signatures.

Twitter users are also casting their votes for Bomer.

"Yes yes yes Charlie Hunnam is not going to be Christian Grey anymore! PICK MATT BOMER!!!" one tweet reads.

"if they would've just listened to the internet and casted Matt Bomer from the start.." another tweet states.

Bomer has yet to comment on the situation. The news of Hunnam's departure is abrupt and shocking, especially considering his recent statements regarding the role.

"There are so many fans of that book, and I know that on the surface, I'm probably not what everybody imagined," Hunnam told Entertainment Weekly last week. "Because reading is so personal and people bring a character to life in their imagination, they feel ownership over that character. That's daunting if I allowed myself to think about it too much. I'm taking it very seriously and intend to explore the nature of who this character is, what motivates him-and also dress up nice and look good in those suits."

Given the suddenness of Hunnam's departure, we can expect many more fans to speak up as a new Christian Grey is selected.

Fifty Shades of Grey will be released Aug. 1, 2014.
