The MLB winter meetings have not even finished yet but professional baseball teams are already getting their rosters set for the upcoming season.

Most notably, the Seattle Mariners finalized the monstrous, ten-year contract with former Yankees infielder Robinson Cano to pave the way in the offseason free agent sweepstakes. The New York Mets followed suit when the squad brought in another former Yankee, Curtis Granderson, on a four-year deal.

However, the Mets did not slow down as news just broke that the team came to terms with free agent pitcher Bartolo Colon on a two-year deal. The aging right-hander is now 40 years but he went 18-6 with a 2.65 ERA in 30 starts on the mound out west for the Oakland Athletics. The deal is reportedly worth $20 million.

Meanwhile, the crosstown Yankees made up for losing Cano by bringing in catcher Brian McCann as well as outfielders Jacoby Ellsbury and Carlos Beltran. They also brought back Hiroki Kuroda to help boost the squad after missing the postseason for the first time since 2008. The Yanks also acted aggressively after the 2008 season and went on to win the 2009 World Series.

In other news, the Los Angeles Dodgers are not expected to trade star Matt Kemp. According to ESPN, the Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox had showed interest in the outfielder but his agent, Dave Stewart, told ESPN that "They said they have no plans to move him - bottom line."

Lastly, the Texas Rangers made a surprise move and drafted Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. The team's General Manager, Jon Daniels, said he reached out to Wilson and the star quarterback reportedly showed interest. The Rangers had been pursuing Wilson since he was playing baseball in high school.

"We want to be respectful of where he's at right now. I got a chance to talk to him, and he was excited," Daniels said. "We wanted to welcome him to the organization and told him, 'Don't be insulted if you don't hear from us again until you're done playing because we don't want to get in the way of what you've got going on.'"
