The recent introduction of user-created missions in Grand Theft Auto 5 raises an important question: will this trend continue in the future?

The popular GTA series has been a huge hit over the years and the 2013 release was no different, shattering more than a half dozen Guinness World Records. But now that Rockstar Games rewarded the most loyal fans by giving them the opportunity to create missions by themselves, we can most likely expect their participation in this regard to grow over time -- but how?

By the time GTA 6 is released -- or even before -- who knows if fans will be the ones who also create the maps or additional online content? At this point, it seems that we might have to wait for a bit to see how the feedback is for the new user-created content that has been posted on the Rockstar Games website to show to fans and developers alike.

One thing for sure is that this process will change significantly when Grand Theft Auto 5 is finally out on the shelves for the next-gen consoles. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 release dates were just weeks before the GTA 5 release so the developers obviously did not have enough time to create the next-gen version of the game. Many people are expecting the next-gen GTA 5 to be released in 2014 as well as the PC version of the game.

The older GTA games are now on a number of different platforms, including the iPhone and iPad. That pattern could continue with the current GTA game once it is released on the next-gen game consoles.
