There's finally news on the Galaxy S5's specs and features. A new report from Digi Tech says that the device is to make use of Sharp's 2K display - ditching its signature AMOLED.

It has already been previously reported that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will no longer be sporting AMOLED screens. Instead, the S5 will be making use of Quad-HD rumored to have a resolution higher than that of the iPad Air. At 2560 by 1440, the screen's resolution is already at the same level with the 27-inch iMac's.

This time around, rumors are pointing to Sharp's 5.25-inch QHD panel. Sharp's 5.25" 2K Ultra HD 560 ppi LTPS display panels are indeed a very likely candidate for the Samsung Galaxy S5 - especially with the South Korean giant having had bought 3% stake in Sharp back in Spring of 2013 as noted by Unwired View.

Samsung is also said to be concentrating on giving its flexible AMOLED production a boost. The special attention given to the flexible AMOLED production results in a perceived lag and other yield issues with S5.

Aside from a Quad HD, the S5 - dubbed as Galaxy F by some reports, will also come with a 16MP camera with ISOCELL technology. Samsung is supposedly not leaving it as is and is including Optical Image Stabilization with the camera upgrade.

Other rumors for the up and coming S5 include an iris scanner on top of fingerprint technology, a break-free from Android with the Tizen-Firefox OS and 4GB-RAM backed-up 64-bit Exynos processor.

Contrary to previous rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S5 won't make it to the Mobile World Congress this year. Eldar Murtazin says that the S5 will have a launch date of around March - much like the S4.

@eldarmurtazin: "Galaxy S5 wont be on MWC2014 ;) May 1 start of sales like S4, so launch date around march like S4 (some european capitals into consideration"
