Lyst, an online shopping search engine, recently published a study that predicts that Monday, June 8, was the "most popular day of the year to buy swimwear online."

Fashionista reports that the study's prediction is based on search traffic, 2014 sales patterns, and the number of swimsuits uploaded onto Lyst in the past 2 weeks.

The study also reveals that consumers are more likely to buy high-waisted bikinis and one-piece swimsuits this year since there has been a 124-percent increase in the purchase of high-waisted swimsuits and a 56-percent increase in one-piece bathing suits.

Lyst claims that the most popular style of high-waisted and one-piece bathing suits include Prism's Honolulu halter neck one-piece for $278, Lisa Marie Fernandez's "Mira" bikini for $400, and Solid and Striped's "Ann Marie" tank for $150.

These popular bathing suit styles match the Lyst study results that show that designer beachwear is up 32 percent from 2014.

But despite Lyst's study on high-waisted bathing suits, MissTravel, a dating and travel website, claims to have created a study that shows that men actually prefer traditional bikinis over the popular high-waisted bathing suit trend.

"Many times there is a clear divide between the fashion world and the real world, and this is clearly one of those instances," Brandon Wade, CEO and founder of MissTravel.com, told Styleite about the study. "Men love to see a woman's body, and this [high-waisted style] covers up some of the most attractive parts of their anatomy."

According to Styleite, the Miss Travel study shows that "80% of men expressed open hatred towards high waisted swimsuits, while 16% are 'indifferent.' Only 4% of men, all of whom are probably Swifties, proclaim to 'love' it.

Styleite's "Swifties" reference is in regards to Taylor Swift's apparent love for wearing high-waisted swimsuits. Styleite suggests that Swift pioneered the high-waited bathing suit trend.
