Jay-Z hosted a pre-Grammy brunch which included his inner circle of friends and business partners within the entertainment industry. Some of those who attended were Rihanna, J. Cole, Wale, Kelly Rowland, Willow and Jaden Smith, Calbin Harris, Rita Ora, Diane Warren, Ne-Yo, Grimes, Ezra Koenig, Meek Mill, T.I., Sylvia Rhone and Steve Stoute.

The event was so popular that some guests were eventually denied entry due to overcrowding at the sprawling estate in Beverly Hills. Guests were served Jay's endorsed cognac D'Usse and the catered event included dishes such as truffle mac and cheese, white cheddar grits and customized omelets. There was also a cigar station where cigars were hand-rolled on-site.

Roc Nation LLC is an entertainment company founded by Jay-Z. The label is operated under Sony Music Entertainment and distributed by Universal Music Group. Artists signed on the label include Jay-Z himself, J. Cole, Rita Ora, Bridget Kelly, Alexis Jordan, Hugo, Jay Electronica, Willow Smith, Sugababes, Arlissa, Calvin Harris, and DJ Mustard. Roc Nation also manages for Rihanna, Shakira, Timbaland, and Haim.

Roc Nation also formed a sports management division in April of 2013. The company aims to act as an intermediary between high-profile athletes and the sporting teams and companies seeking to capitalize on their abilities.

According to the Huffington Post: "Jay Z's annual brunch was just one of several events held on the eve of the Grammys. The Recording Academy had its own brunch with Janelle Monae at the Grammy Museum, where the singer performed for an audience that included schoolchildren and Make-A-Wish kids. And Lorde, Robin Thicke and others performed at a brunch held by Universal Music Group."

The Grammys is a major social event and photo opportunity for those in the entertainment industry and traditionally sees many pre- and post-Grammy parties, some of which are for charitable causes and others which are just wild.
