The ABC Family television series is based on the bestselling young adult fantasy book series "The Mortal Instruments" by Cassandra Clare.

"Shadowhunters" follows the story of Clary Fray, who discovers on her 18th birthday that she is descended from a long line of Shadowhunters -- human-angel hybrids who hunt down and destroy demons. When her mother, Jocelyn, is kidnapped, Clary is thrust into an unknown world of demon hunting with Shadowhunter Jace Wayland and her best friend, Simon. Clary begins a journey of self-discovery among vampires, faeries, warlocks and werewolves where she learns about her past and what her future holds.

Fans are already swooning over two crush worthy characters: Clary and Jace.

The series stars 19-year-old Katherine McNamara as Clary. McNamara has starred in films "New Year's Eve" and "The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials." On television, she most recently starred on MTV's "Happyland" and ABC Family's "The Fosters."

Dominic Sherwood, 25, is an English actor, model and musician who stars as Jace. He is known for his appearance in Taylor Swift's music video "Style." His first major film role was as Christian Ozera in the adaptation of Richelle Mead's "Vampire Academy."
