Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea were all legitimate contenders in the Pedro Rodriguez derby.

Pedro tallied 99 goals for Barcelona but has been contemplating on his future after losing his spot to Luis Suarez last season.

The forward has been dreaming of a Premier League debut for quite some time now, with the Red Devils being the front runners in making his dream a reality.

The Spanish international has even agreed, on a verbal capacity, to sign with the Old Trafford squad.

However, the 28-year-old recently had a sudden change of heart, which forced Man-U to discontinue their bid for him, paving the way for Chelsea to sign him instead.

A fresh report suggests that it's only a matter of time before Pedro officially joins the Blues.

Sources told ESPN FC that the Stamford Bridge squad have agreed to cash out £19.7 million to acquire the forward, with £1.4 million in bonus fees.

Pedro's change of heart is attributed to the conversations he had with Barca alums Cesc Fabregas and Victor Valdes.

Fabregas might have cited a few moments from Chelsea's Premier League championship run last year to entice Pedro. Valdes, on the other hand, could only complain about his current woes under Louis van Gaal's system.

A Spanish outfit had a more concrete explanation on why Pedro and Barcelona had a falling out with Man-U.

According to Marca via Daily Express, Jose Mourinho and company offered more upfront cash while United's vice chairman Ed Woodward demanded for more assets to go along with Pedro.

With the botched Pedro signing, Man-U has allegedly concluded their player shopping this summer.

"United have made five signings and paid £84m this summer, and that could be the end of their business before the window closes on Sept. 1," ESPN FC reported.

Van Gaal also seems to be just satisfied with recent signing Memphis Depay. The 21-year-old Dutch winger scored twice against Brugge on Tuesday, speeding up the expectations that he might be the one to fill in the hole left by Angel Di Maria.

As for Chelsea, Pedro's impeding arrival followed the team's recent signing of defender Baba Rahman.

"I am very happy to sign for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I can't wait to train with my new team-mates and very much looking forward to working with them and Mr Mourinho," the Ghanaian said.

Naturally, both players are expected to improve the squad on the attacking and defensive end.

It was also reported that the defending Premier League champions are looking to sign a marquee forward and central midfielder. With Pedro close to joining the team, Chelsea is one midfielder away from ending their summer transactions.
