It's September, and with every new month, Xbox Live Gold subscribers get a chance at free downloads of a new selection of Xbox One and Xbox 360 games through Games with Gold. Here's what's coming to your Xbox for free this month (via Thurrott).

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

This is certainly going to be the most popular selection for Games with Gold this September.

The critically acclaimed Square Enix reboot of Tomb Raider comes boosted to next generation 1080p graphics and packaged with bonus content, all the updates, and almost all of the DLC released since it hit the scene almost two years ago. This is a steal of a deal this September. The free download for members would normally cost $29.99.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is available for free through Games with Gold on Xbox One only.

The Deer God

The other Xbox One game available for free through Xbox Live Games with Gold couldn't be more different from the aforementioned AAA title. The Deer God is an artistic platformer and 3D pixel game centered on the concept of reincarnation, which turns the hunting game on its head with an intriguing twist.

As small studio developer Crescent Moon Games put it, "The hunter becomes the deer, the deer the hunter. Find others like you, discover new areas, avoid wilderness creatures, and search for hidden secrets.

Even if the concept doesn't hook you from the start, romping around as a deer in this cute, sometimes beautifully pixelated world will.

Crysis 3

Speaking of hunting, for Xbox 360 Games with Gold subscribers, the wildly fun post-apocalyptic shooter Crysis 3 is available this September for free. It's an oldie but a goodie -- just tell me you won't get sucked into Profphet's quest to take down the evil CELL Corporation, especially when it's free, instead of $20. Look for this title to hit on Sept. 16.

Battlestations: Pacific

Finally rounding out September's Xbox Live Games with Gold is a title that would normally cost you $25, but is available for free download in the first half of the month for Gold subscribers with Xbox 360.

Probably the best video game version of the classic "Battleship" (no, not the movie), this game puts you in the South Pacific during World War 2, where you command a fleet and take out the enemy -- be it the U.S. or Japanese, depending on which side you want to play as.

That means big battles, big guns, fighter planes, submarines, and a lot of strategy. Get it before Sept. 15, because this title won't be free after that.
