Adele is set to make her acting debut in an upcoming film directed by Xavier Dolan.

The 27-year-old "Hello" singer will be featured in the French-Canadian director's English-language project, "The Death and Life of John F. Donovan," according to Vanity Fair.

The film follows an American movie star, whose relationship with an 11-year-old actor is exposed, leading to rumors, as well as threats to his life and career.

Dolan, who recently directed Adele's emotionally charged "Hello" music video, is reportedly having the singer make a cameo in the film, rather than have her offer up some original music. There is no release date announced for the film yet.

Some of the films Dolan has previously directed include "Mommy" and "Tom at the Farm." Dolan is also currently working on the film "It's Only the End of the World," due out in 2016.

In addition to Adele's appearance in the film, the cast is currently set to include Jessica Chastain, Kit Harington, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates.

The only acting chops Adele has offered up to the public are her performances in her music videos, many of which require intense commitment.

The singer will be promoting her new album with a forthcoming appearance on "Saturday Night Live" on Saturday, Nov. 21 with host Matthew McConaughey. She is also performing at her upcoming "Adele Live in New York City" concert special, which will take place on Monday, Dec. 14 and air on NBC.

Adele is set to release her third studio album, "25," on Friday, Nov. 20. The album has produced the successful single "Hello," which has topped several music charts, such as the U.S. Billboard 100 and U.K. Singles chart. "25" is the follow-up to the Grammy-winning "21," which produced the singles "Rolling in the Deep," "Someone like You," "Set Fire to the Rain," "Rumour Has It" and "Turning Tables."
