Game six of the Eastern Conference playoffs between the New York Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers will be played Tuesday night in Philadelphia at 7:30 p.m. EDT. The Rangers lead the series 3-2.

This series has had one constant theme: alternating wins. In game 1 the Rangers won by a dominating score of 4-1. The Flyers returned the favor in game two, winning 4-2. Game 3 wasn't nearly as close as many predicted, with the Rangers winning 4-1 and taking a 2-1 series lead. The Flyers retaliated in game 4 by evening the series 2-2. On Sunday, the Rangers took control of the series after winning 4-2.

So here we are in game 6 after five games of alternating victories by the Rangers and Flyers.

For whatever reason, neither team can win consecutive games. But on the bright side, neither team has lost consecutive games. NHL fans that don't like either team will pull for a Flyers win so we all get to see a thrilling game 7. If a game 7 does take place, it will be played on Wednesday, April 30, at 7:00 at Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers have home ice advantage, but they must treat this like an elimination game; anything can happen in a game 7. The Rangers hold a big advantage so far in the series with shots on goal averaging six more per game. This has been a hard-hitting series with many penalties, but both teams have done a good job not allowing too many power play goals. To many people's surprise, there hasn't been a single shorthanded goal scored in the five games played between the two teams.

The Flyers aren't the favorites to win the series nor do they have home ice advantage. However, they do have home ice Tuesday night and that Philadelphia crowd is going to be extremely loud. Combined in the regular season and playoffs, the Flyers are 1-4 at Madison Square Garden, so they know Tuesday night they must send a message. Flyers goaltender Ray Emery has played well, but is inconsistent at times. His save percentage in the series is .888 and the Flyers have also played Steve Mason a lot as well.

Rangers goaltender Henrick Lundqvist has played great for most of the series. He has a 1.81 goals against average and .926 save percentage. The Rangers are going to need him to play great Tuesday night on the road.
