A new Public Policy Polling (PPP) national survey finds Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump by four points with roughly six-months remaining before their widely anticipated general election showdown.

Pollsters found Clinton at 42 percent of the vote vs. 38 percent for Trump, who recently emerged as the presumptive presidential nominee of the Republican Party.

Researchers also found Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson registering four percent of the vote and Green Party candidate Jill Stein at two percent. When pitted one on one, pollsters found Clinton leads Trump 47 percent to 41 percent.

Among democratic voters, Clinton leads Trump 78 percent to 9 percent, while Trump leads among GOP voters 78 percent to 7 percent. Overall, 61 percent of voters indicated they have a negative opinion of Trump, compared to just 34 percent who have a positive image of him.

Trump Voters Buy Into Various Conspiracy Theories

Of the voters who view Trump positively, 65 percent think President Barack Obama is a Muslim, 59 percent are convinced he was not born in the U.S. and 7 percent think Ted Cruz's father was involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Overall, 72 percent of Republicans now insist they are comfortable with Trump as the party's nominee, against just 21 percent who remain opposed to it.

Sanders Runs Even Better Against Trump

Bernie Sanders, the only other remaining Democratic candidate, runs even better against Trump, leading him 50 percent to 39 percent in a head to head match-up.

Compared to Clinton, Sanders' bump over Trump comes from his well-documented support among young people, with voters between 18 and 29 favoring him by a whopping 46 points (64 percent to 18 percent).

Pollsters found Democrats also lead on the generic question of which party people plan to vote for president by a margin of 49 percent to 41 percent.
