Can Wales make the dream come true in the Euro this summer?

The Welsh kick off their first Euro tournament ever on Saturday when it takes on Slovakia in Group B.

Can Gareth Bale Give an Iconic Performance

The big story for this golden generation of Welsh players is Gareth Bale. The Real Madrid superstar had another tremendous year marred with injuries yet he managed to make a huge impact every step of the way as he led the team to the Champions League title.

Bale was a major factor as Wales lost 3-0 in its final tune-up against Sweden last Sunday. Without him on the pitch, his team was played out of the park, barely getting any play moving forward as Sweden completely dominated. When he came on in the 64th minute, the improvement was palpable with the team suddenly having a pulse on the attack.

If Bale gets injured, Wales could have a short stay in France. If he is at his best, this team could turn some heads.

Slovakia meanwhile enters the game in decent forming win two of five and drawing the other three. Overall, the team has not lost since October 2015 in a 1-0 defeat against Belarus. Slovakia is no pushover and will present some tricky challenges for a Welsh side that needs to be in tip top form on Saturday.

Player to watch

Gareth Bale will make his international tournament debut and will look to have a big game. As used with Wales, he plays freely up front where his speed and long range shot are a major danger. Look for him to have a big debut.

History is split

Both teams have won one and lost one in this matchup with both games being played during Euro 2008 qualifiers. Wales lost at home 5-1 in October 2006 before returning the favor with a 5-2 win on the road in September 2007.

Prediction

Bale and Wales score big, winning 1-0.
