A Florida man invaded a Narcotics Anonymous meeting in Florida and shot his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend before he turned the gun on himself to commit suicide.

The Edgewater Police Department in Florida identified the 49-year-old shooter as Quinton Hunter. According to People, Hunter walked into a building in Edgewater where faith-based non-profit organization Bridging the Gap was conducting a Narcotics Anonymous meeting at around 7 p.m. on Monday.

Police said around 20 people were inside the building to attend the meeting. Authorities noted that Hunter first shot Ian Greenfield, 59, "at close proximity, mortally wounding him."

The Florida man then prevented his former girlfriend, Erica Hoffman, 33, from leaving, and the incident escalated into a hostage situation. However, Hunter still shot Hoffman before shooting and killing himself.

Following the incident, the Edgewater Police Department held a press conference. There, authorities revealed that no other people in the meeting were injured as they managed to flee to safety.

Police said Quinton Hunter seemed to be only targeting Ian Greenfield and Erica Hoffman.

When the incident escalated to become a hostage situation, the Southeast Volusia Regional SWAT Team and Negotiations Team were reportedly mobilized to diffuse the situation.

Edgewater police said both units tried to reach the suspect, but there was no response inside the building, CBS 12 reported.

According to local NBC affiliate WESH, authorities spent hours trying to reach Hunter but failed.

When the SWAT team finally broke through the door to get in and find the victims, they found Greenfield, Hoffman, and Hunter all dead inside the meeting room.

Police said the Florida man even went on Facebook live while inside the building. It happened after he shot Greenfield and before he shot Hoffman.

In the video, police said Hunter was just staring at the camera and breathing strangely.

Police noted that Greenfield and Hoffman died from multiple gunshot wounds and lacerations, while the Florida man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Motive for the Attack of Florida Man Was Jealousy, Police Say

Police confirmed that Quinton Hunter was the ex-boyfriend of Erica Hoffman, who was already in a new relationship with Ian Greenfield at the time of the shooting.

Police said the motive was jealousy, as the attack stemmed from a love triangle between the three individuals.

Edgewater Police Chief Joe Mahoney said Hunter had clear intent to shoot Greenfield and harm Hoffman.

Police noted that the Florida man has an extensive criminal history. However, they did not specify his other crimes.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Bridging the Gap said the group was "deeply saddened" by the double murder-suicide.

The organization further noted that they will be closed for a few days but hoped to begin serving the community again "later this week."
