The family of Rex Heuermann, who is suspected to be the infamous Gilgo Beach serial killer who terrorized New York in the 2000s, are reportedly speaking up in a new documentary, and they are expected to make over a million dollars because of it.

Much like many families with a serial killer in their midst, Heuermann's family did not have the faintest idea of his double life. He is accused of killing 27-year-old Amber Lynn Costello, 24-year-old Melissa Barthelemy, and 22-year-old Megan Waterman, whose remains were all found in Gilgo Beach, Long Island, He is also the prime suspect in the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

Asa Ellerup, Heuermann's estranged wife, as well as his and her adult children, Victoria and Christopher, have already sold the rights to their story to a new documentary, which is being produced by NBC's streaming service, Peacock.

According to Yahoo! News, Heuermann's lawyers are also receiving payments as they will be taking part in the documentary. The three family members did not know anything about Rex Heuermann's "hunts" where he went after sex workers.

Rex Heuermann may only be accused of killing three and is the prime suspect in another one, but he may have killed a lot more, as a total of 11 bodies were found in the stretch of Gilgo Beach between 2010 and 2011. These include all four of his alleged victims, who were all found buried while being bound by belts or tape and some wrapped in burlap. Their bodies were all buried within one-quarter mile of each other in Gilgo Beach and were known as the Gilgo Beach Four.

Rex Heuermann Wife Attends His Hearing Inside a New York Court

Asa Ellerup, 59, sparked a media frenzy last Wednesday when she arrived for her estranged husband's trial inside the Arthur M. Cromarty Courthouse in Riverhead, Long Island. She was being followed by a documentary crew from Peacock, sparking rumors of her deal for the documentary.

The New York Post reported that reporters soon swarmed her as she got out of her car, with two photographers even getting into a fight with one another as they jockeyed to get into position for a good shot.

A native of Iceland, Ellerup looked more composed than previously when news of her husband being a serial killer first erupted. Upon arriving at the courtroom, she was seen smiling and nodding to Heuermann. She filed for divorce from him back in July.

The hearing itself was fairly standard despite the media frenzy outside, as it was just the defense asking for the investigators' notes and both sides asking for paperwork.

Another Serial Killer Told Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Rex Heuermann To Confess and Avoid Prosecutors 'Gloating'

Convicted serial killer Keith Jesperson, better known as the "Happy Face Killer," reportedly comforted the suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer, Rex Heuermann, telling him that the food was "better in prison: and advised him to confess.

According to The Messenger, the 68-year-old serial killer sent letters to Heuermann from his cell in Oregon. He told the suspected killer that he should confess to his alleged crimes so that prosecutors and police would not be gloating about any evidence they find.

He added that confessing would be better as it avoids a lengthy trial, and living in prison would be better than staying in jail, as Heuermann is now.
