After Elon Musk went on an expletive-laden tirade regarding advertisers leaving social media platform, X, formerly Twitter, more and more advertisers are reportedly leaving, with the latest big name to leave being Walmart.

"We aren't advertising on X as we've found other platforms to better reach our customers," a Walmart spokesperson told the New York Post. The company becomes one of the biggest names to stop advertising on the platform as others, including Disney and Warner Bros., have since suspended their advertising there.

Since Elon Musk took over the company last year, X has been struggling to retain advertisers. This is the latest exodus the company has faced, and it all stemmed from Musk himself endorsing antisemitic posts on his own account. These antisemitic posts include sharing a post from "an X user who falsely claimed members of the Jewish community were stoking hatred against white people."

The New York Post reported that the same user whose content Musk had been sharing had a history of racist posts, including referencing the "Great Replacement" conspiracy theory and supposed "white genocide."

Musk has since apologized for sharing that user's posts but tried to look defiant during a New York Times DealBook event on Wednesday, where he accused advertisers of "blackmail" before hurling expletives at them, telling advertisers that are leaving the platform to "Go F*ck yourself."

More Advertisers May Flee X After Elon Musk Tirade

The tirade may have cost Musk more than just Disney, Warner Bros., and Walmart, but other big names and some smaller ones may also be leaving soon. However, this may be more on Musk allowing racist content to continually be shared on X rather than just Musk's tirade in general.

"Companies need to protect the brands they work for," said Lou Paskalis, founder of marketing consultancy AJL Advisory told Reuters. "This isn't advertisers getting together in a secret clubhouse to support an agenda," which was what Musk was implying in his tirade.

However, the company formerly known as Twitter seems to be doubling down on the issue of keeping antisemitic and racist content, as several media outlets have obtained an internal memo stating, "Our principles do not have a price tag, nor will they be compromised - ever."

Several advertisers were reportedly present when Musk went on his tirade against advertisers.

Elon Musk Doubles Down on Infamous Conspiracy Theory as More Advertisers Flee X

However, as advertisers continue to flee and X is bleeding money because of this, Elon Musk is not showing much concern, instead doubling down on controversial conspiracy theories that may also turn off even more advertisers from his social media platform.

According to the Huffington Post, Musk has been doubling down on one particular conspiracy theory, and that is "Pizzagate." In a recent post, Musk said that it "Does seem at least a little suspicious" along with a widely discredited 2016-era conspiracy. That post was soon deleted but not before Musk tried to double down on the claim by inking to an article about a former ABC News reporter pleading guilty to child pornography charges.

However, he was repeatedly debunked in the comments, as the ABC News reporter did not even write an article that debunked that conspiracy theory, and the pizza shop mentioned in the conspiracy theory did not even have a basement. It was alleged that a sex trafficking ring was being conducted in the establishment's basement.
