Colby Covington, a prominent UFC star, joined the wave of disapproval directed at LeBron James following a video showing the Los Angeles Lakers player entering USC's arena and promptly taking a seat during the national anthem, as per FOX News.

Covington expressed his criticism during a press conference on Wednesday night, ahead of his welterweight bout against Leon Edwards at UFC 296.

In his remarks, Covington voiced strong opinions, stating, "If you hate America so much, and you don't like this country that gave you a billion dollars, leave it. Or come deal with me."

He continued with a controversial suggestion for James to visit countries like China, mentioning sweatshops and labor conditions.

The UFC fighter did not mince words, concluding with a direct message to James: "F--- you, LeBron James. You're a coward. You're a spineless coward, and you're a b----."

LeBron James' National Anthem Seating Sparks Controversy

LeBron James faced some social media backlash for walking over to his courtside seats during the national anthem, with the moment captured in a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, according to The Spun.

Collin Rugg expressed disappointment, stating, "Zero respect for the country that gave him the opportunity to be a basketball star... Zero respect for the men and women who defend our country so he can live his life. Shameful."

In defense, Luca Evans, the reporter who filmed the incident, offered a different perspective, stating, "LeBron has done this for YEARS in Bronny's time at Sierra Canyon. It's objectively the best time to walk in so he doesn't cause a massive stir. Stop it."

This explanation sheds light on a practice that has been consistent over the years, suggesting that James times his entrance during the national anthem to avoid causing unnecessary disruption.

However, despite the context provided, it's acknowledged that certain individuals may continue to criticize James for his actions.

Colby Covington's History of Criticizing LeBron James

This is not the first instance of Colby Covington expressing negative views about LeBron James, Mirror noted.

In September 2020, after defeating Tyron Woodley, Covington dedicated the victory to first responders and the military, taking a jab at what he referred to as "woke athletes" and calling out LeBron James as a "spineless coward."

In response to fans speculating about a potential fight between them, Covington dismissed the idea, stating, "Lol at the snowflakes that believe LeBron James could even last 10 seconds with me!"

He further brought up a controversial reference to Delonte West, emphasizing the disparity in physical abilities.

The political differences between James and Covington are notable, with LeBron James openly expressing his disapproval of Donald Trump, while Colby Covington is known for his support of the former US President.

Trump is expected to attend Covington's fight at UFC 296 and present the world title if Covington emerges victorious.
