Apple has reportedly informed manufacturers that the company plans to cut back on sales for the iPhone 5c in favor of putting extra resources into boosting the iPhone 5s.

The move comes just after retailers said that the iPhone 5c would be marked down to about half the price that it was when it was released.

Canaccord Genuity analysts are saying that the iPhone 5s, which is more expensive and has many more upgrades compared to the cheaper iPhone 5c, is selling very well. According to the USA Today, "Data from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) shows that the newest flagship iPhone 5S is outselling the cheaper one by more than two to one."

The iPhone 5c is known as the more colorful, yet budget-friendly phone that is not entirely different from the original iPhone 5.

In other news, Apple has confirmed the rumored Oct. 22 release date for new iPads as well as Macs. The company sent out invites for the event next week and said that "We still have a lot to cover." The event will take place in San Francisco and is slated to start at 10 a.m.

The tech world has been waiting ever since Apple CEO Tim Cook foreshadowed a busy season for the company when he said there would be "really great stuff coming in the Fall. And across all of 2014."

The event will mark the second time in as many months that we will have seen Apple showing off new products. From the new iPhones to the iOS 7 platform, the company timed everything perfectly to launch in the fall before the busy Black Friday sales are underway in November.
