Is Christmas over already or did a time machine bring us back to Black Friday?

If you were getting confused, it's because retailers and online websites have already started promoting the "After Christmas" sales. Most notably, Amazon is listing massive deals in which shoppers can take advantage of special "70 percent off" options for clothing. Furthermore, the website is also offering deals on electronics that are discounted up to 60 percent.

"Get a head start on next year's shopping by checking out our after-Christmas sales and year-end deals for daily discounts, clearance prices, and outlet markdowns every day through December 31," Amazon.com says.

Old Navy is another option for shoppers who want to have their own little "Black Friday" this week. Following Christmas day on Wednesday, shoppers can find clothing and more for a whopping 75 percent off, according to an Old Navy television commercial.

These deals should be evaluated further in order to determine whether they are really legitimate. There was much discussion during the Black Friday frenzy as to whether a vast majority of the deals were actually discounts.

In addition, this year's early advertising for the post-Christmas deals was somewhat unprecedented considering the usual pattern of waiting until the holiday is over. However, considering that people were extra cautious about spending this year, it makes sense that the retailers were quick to highlight the cheapest possible options that would be coming following the holiday.

The early sales are also not too surprising after we saw the same pattern play out with Black Friday. The sales that retailers usually reserve for the day after Thanksgiving were already underway before turkeys were even in the oven.
