After being kicked out of Donald Trump's press conference for speaking out of turn earlier this week, Univision anchor Jorge Ramos continued to make media rounds to justify his actions and explain why he felt compelled to challenge the 2016 presidential candidate about his stance on immigration.

The confrontation occurred on Tuesday when Ramos stood up and began yelling out questions to Trump about immigration. In response, the GOP frontrunner told Ramos to "go back to Univision." Ramos was then removed from the event by security. However, Trump let him return to the conference later on.

On Thursday, Ramos appeared on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," where he said that he was "just a reporter asking questions" at Trump's, reports Yahoo! TV.

"But I also believe, Anderson, that you have to go the extra mile to be tough on those who are in power," he said.

The Mexican-American anchor went on to say that he wanted to press the billionaire real estate mogul on the issue of immigration because Trump has denied his offer to conduct a formal interview.

"I went all the way to Iowa to ask those questions," said Ramos.

"What he's saying about immigration is full of empty promises," said the 57-year-old journalist to Cooper. "He can't deport 11 million people from the United States, he can't build a 1,900 mile wall between Mexico and the U.S. and he can't deny citizenship to children born in this country."

When asked what he thought Trump meant when he told him to "go back to Univision," Ramos answered, saying, "the same kind of language that we hear from people who are against immigrants... I'm a U.S. citizen. This is not Donald Trump's country, this is our country."

Ramos added Trump's rhetoric is creating a dangerous environment.

"What many Americans say in their homes, with their friends, in their kitchens, now many of them feel that it is OK to say that to minorities, to Latinos and this is really creating a terrible backlash."
