On Tuesday, Colombian superstar Shakira discussed working on new music during a press conference to promote her new perfume "Love Rock! by Shakira."

According to People en Español, the singer, whose last album, self-titled "Shakira," was released in 2014, announced that she will be working on new music soon, and fans can expect a new album in 2016.

"Once I start working on new music, which will be soon, I think by the end of this year or beginning of the next, I'll start working on my new album in the studio, recording and producing new songs," the singer said. "I know I will be completely busy as the process of making an album is like a whirlwind that absorbs you."

The "Can't Remember to Forget You" singer explained that working on her music is very time consuming and requires a lot of focus. After the birth of her second child, she decided to take time off from music to focus on her family with her partner Gerard Piqué, who plays soccer for FC Barcelona.

"I want to enjoy what it is to be a mother thoroughly, because in three months I won't have a baby anymore, he is already going to be a 1-year-old kid. I want to be sure to be there for him," the star said about her son Sasha, reported Telemundo.

While the star has taken time off from making new music, she has taken part is smaller projects and events. The star performed for the Pope's visit to the United Nations in New York in September and recently launched her own game app, also called "Love Rocks."

The star's latest perfume comes in a guitar-shaped bottle, and it has hints of jasmine and roses, as well as bergamot and red apple.

"It is our sixth fragrance ... it symbolizes the energy, the music, it has a lot of personality and represents the woman of today," the singer said.
