In Wednesday night's all-new episode of "Criminal Minds," the BAU agents take a trip to Boston to investigate a series of mysterious deaths that appear to be connected to a taxi service.

The trailer for the upcoming episode, which is entitled "Drive," reveals that Agent Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) and the BAU team will track down a serial killer who beheads his victims using a guillotine as a punishment for their sins. It also looks like the killer poses as a taxi driver and targets riders after they confess to wrongdoings.

"When bodies are discovered in public places throughout Boston, the BAU investigates whether a taxi or ride-share service the victims used before their deaths could lead the team to the UnSub," reads the synopsis, according to CarterMatt.

The CBS drama series also released a sneak peek video showing Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), JJ (A.J. Cook), Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) and Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) discussing the possible weapons that the UnSub could be using to decapitate his victims. That's when Reid realizes that he is probably using a guillotine.

"Displaying the bodies in public seems to be important to the UnSub. He wants to make an example out of his victims, which is why I think he is using a guillotine," he says.

Later in the season, fans will meet Derek's father, who will be played by icon Danny Glover, reports TVLine.

"It's an interesting role that he plays," executive producer Erica Messer said about Glover's character. "The reason Derek needs to call on this protector in this moment and work through some things is really beautifully written by Breen Frazier, and directed by [cast member] Thomas Gibson."

She also revealed that Moore's character will become a strong focus in the rest of the season.

"There is a lot going on with Derek," the showrunner told TVLine. "He's really taking up our emotional head space for a good chunk of this midseason stretch."

Season 11, Episode 12 of "Criminal Minds," "Drive," will premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
