Ring Doorbell Video Helps the Arrest of Las Vegas Man

The Las Vegas man, only referred to as "John Doe," was arrested the next day, July 22, when a citizen in the area of East Clark Avenue and South 3rd Street recognized him from the video that circulated on the internet on Wednesday night.

The citizen, who was not identified, tipped the information to a nearby Deputy City Marshal, and the suspect was arrested.

Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) responded and booked the man into the Clark County Detention Center for aggravated stalking, coercion, and obstructing a public officer.

Footage Reveals Las Vegas Man Threatens to Rape and Kill the Woman

The footage was posted on Facebook by Amanda Nowak on the night of the incident, Heavy reported. In her Facebook post, Nowak said she was alone at her home when the Las Vegas man arrived and described her experience as scary.

The woman noted that she called the cops, and the lady from 911 stayed on the line until cops reached her home. The Las Vegas police said they received the call at around 8:38 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Ring doorbell video revealed a bearded man with tattoos on his arms, wearing a black cop and grey sleeveless shirt. He approached the house and knocked on the door.

The Las Vegas man can be heard repeatedly saying he "ring the doorbell," "Are you sure?" because he had a couple of questions for the woman inside. The man also repeatedly knocked on the door while trying to look inside.

Moments later, Nowak's husband, who was not at home, utilized the Ring's system to ask for the man's identity, just as the suspect was walking away from their doorstep.

The man looked into the camera and said she was looking for the woman inside the house because he's going to rape and kill her.

The Las Vegas man also requested Nowak's husband to ask for the woman to open the door for him, then walked away after Nowak's husband did not respond to his requests.

After the arrest, Amanda Nowak updated her Facebook post, saying that the Las Vegas man was already in police custody. She lauded the power of social media and thanked everyone. Amanda Nowak also urged people always to lock their doors for their safety.
