Kevin Smith is one of Generation X's most sought-after filmmakers, and the onscreen duo he created alongside pal Jason Mewes, "Jay and Silent Bob," has appeared in many of his films. They even got their own movie way back in 2001, but not with much success.

Now, the pair are sticking to their bit cameos and sometimes leading roles alongside other characters in Smith's movies. This is also the case with his upcoming film "Moose Jaws," according to Cinema Blend.

This movie, which is currently in the pre-production stage, is part of a trilogy of films Smith has been churning out, which also includes the films "Tusk" and "Yoga Hosers." Smith calls this universe of films the "True North Trilogy" and has been vocal about the production of this third and final installment.

On Facebook, Smith asked his fans whether or not they think Jay and Silent Bob should be included in the trilogy's final installment. This of course sets aside their involvement in the "View Askewniverse," which Smith coined on his own website and blog.

This also means Smith is in the initial stages of deciding to put them in, as he has taken to social media for input from his fans on what he should do. Putting Jay and Silent Bob into the movie would be essentially removing them from his flagship universe, which featured movies like "Clerks," "Mallrats," "Chasing Amy," "Dogma" and "Clerks II."

But this does not mean the director cannot use them in those films again, given he is the ultimate omnipotence of the universe and can simply write them back in.

Fans who want to voice their opinion can go to the Facebook page and weigh in on this matter, which seems to have taken on a prescient status for devoted followers of the New Jersey filmmaker.
