Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma; however, he says he will continue with most of his duties.

Yahoo Sports reports the head coach of the Timberwolves has Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system. The team announced Saunders is undergoing chemotherapy treatments, and doctors say the cancer is "very treatable and curable."

As head coach, Saunders led the Timberwolves to the worst record in the NBA this season. But with young players such as Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and 2015 first overall pick Karl-Anthony Towns, the team has a core of tremendous young talent. Earlier this year, the Timberwolves reacquired forward Kevin Garnett from the Nets. Garnett spent the first 12 years of his career in Minnesota.

Saunders announced he is still able to perform his day-to-day duties as president of basketball operations. Earlier this year, Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor eventually wants a new coach for the team.

"It's not definite," Taylor said. "But in my mind, with the effort that he put in this year to bring this team along, it's probably 90 percent. If he sees somebody and he changes his mind, he certainly could convince me. I think eventually I want a different coach, and I want him to be the GM. My guess is that he'll go another year."

Saunders is expected to be on the sidelines this upcoming season.

Saunders coached the Timberwolves from 1995-2005. With Kevin Garnett, the Timberwolves dominated the Western Conference in the early 2000s. In the 2003-2004 season, the Timberwolves went to the Western Conference for the first time in franchise history, where they was eventually defeated by the Los Angeles Lakers in six games. In 2005, Saunders was fired after a slow start to the season.

In the Timberwolves Twitter account, they tweeted out their heartfelt wishes to Saunders and his family. Check it out below:
