The international sales rights for one of Gael Garcia Bernal's upcoming films has been acquired by MK2.

According to Variety, the film in question is the debut feature of Joan Chemla "If You Saw His Heart." The film also stars Marine Vacth and is based on "Boarding Home," a work by Cuban novelist Guillermo Rosales. It is a film noir set in Marseille and revolves around a Gypsy community. Bernal is slated to play a man who gets kicked out of the community after the demise of his friend. As a result, he drifts into crime until he meets Francine, the character played by Vacth.

Pierre Guyard produced the film for Nord-Ouest Films. Other credits include "Ce Sentiment de l'ete" and "Love at First Fight."

Garcia Bernal is an internationally renowned Mexican actor whose resume includes such major films as "Amores Perros," "Y Tu Mama Tambien," "No," "The Motorcycle Diaries," "Rosewater," "El crimen del Padre Amaro," "Bad Education," "Babel," "Rudo y Cursi" and "Blindness" among many others. He is also starring on Amazon's series "Mozart in the Jungle" and will be seen in the upcoming films "Neruda" and "Desierto."

Vacth had a huge breakout for her recent performance in "Young & Beautiful" which premiered at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. The actress, who is also a renowned model, also appeared in "Belle familles" alongside Mathieu Amalric.

Rosales's works included "El juego de la viola," "Boarding Home" and a short story in the anthology "Stories From Miami." "Boarding Home," originally titled "La casa de los naufragos" in Spanish, was published in 1987. The film's original title was "The Halfway House." Rosales won the prestigious 1987 "Letras de Oro" for the novel which at the time was judged by Mexican Poet and Nobel laureate Octavio Paz.

There is no information on when "If You Saw His Heart" will be released or who will be distributing the film in the U.S.
