"Death Stranding" is reportedly using the Decima Engine by Guerilla Games which is the same one being used by "Horizon Zero Dawn." Recent reports reveal that game creator Hideo Kojima and his PlayStation 4-exclusive game is collaborating with Hermen Hulst from Guerilla Games and Mark Cerny from Sony's PlayStation. With these revelations, there have been concerns that the two games may be too similar.

Hideo Kojima and Guerilla Games' Decima Engine Collaboration

In a series of tweets, Kojima explained in metaphors how the collaboration of Kojima Productions and Guerilla Games will make "Death Stranding" much better in the long run. He notes that with their joining, they can customize the engine to fit the needs of the game which makes it even more powerful than it is.

The Decima Engine is created by Guerilla Games and is suited for open-world games such as "Death Stranding" and "Horizon Zero Dawn," International Business Times reports. Their collaboration will inevitably lead to sharing trade information as they will be sharing the same code that will be used to improve both games.

"Death Stranding" and "Horizon Zero Dawn" Will be Similar?

There have been doubts and concerns including Kojima that in the collaboration of the studios, "Death Stranding" will inevitably feel similar as "Horizon Zero Dawn," Kotaku notes. However, Kojima will solely focus on his game while Guerilla Games will focus on theirs. While both games are PS4-exclusive, the games will remain in their own places and this is assured by the recent trailers of the two games how different they are.

"Horizon Zero Dawn" is scheduled to be released on February 28, 2017, while "Death Stranding" has no official release date yet.
