The ZTE Maven is a no-frills smartphone running Android 5.1 Lollipop that is available without a contract for just $60, according to CNET. The Maven is only available on the AT&T network.

Compared to most smartphones, the processor speed on the ZTE Maven is rather slow. It uses a quad-core Snapdragon from Qualcomm that runs at just 1.2 GHz.

The screen on the ZTE Maven is just 4.5 inches in size. Most smartphones currently on the market are going with screen sizes closer to 5 inches or larger. The resolution of the 4.5-inch screen is 480 x 854 pixels.

Owners of the ZTE Maven will probably want to buy a microSD card because the device comes with just 8 GB of internal storage by default. The microSD slot allows up to a 32 GB microSD card to be put into the device, greatly expanding its storage.

For such an affordable price, the ZTE Maven still offers 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi direct and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, according to Digital Trends.

The battery on the ZTE Maven is non-removable and rather small. However, the 2,100 mAh battery will get most users about 10 hours of 4G LTE talk time. Since the screen resolution is quite low and the processor runs at a slower speed, battery life while performing other tasks on the ZTE Maven should last even longer.

The cameras on the ZTE Maven are definitely designed for a low-budget device. The rear-facing camera is only 5 megapixels, but it does have the capability of shooting 720p video. The front-facing camera will allow for the occasional selfie, but it will not be a very crisp picture.

Apps and Internet browsing will run adequately thanks to the 1 GB of RAM inside the ZTE Maven.

Customers who purchase the ZTE Maven will use AT&T's prepaid service AT&T GoPhone. The phone can be purchased through AT&T's website.
