Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton took a humorous route on Monday, when she mocked her Republican counterpart, Donald Trump, by impersonating the tycoon during a campaign stop in Iowa.

"Oh, listen, I don't need to tell you anything," the former secretary of state said in what ABC News deemed a "brutal imitation of Trump's campaign rhetoric."

"When I get there, peace will be breaking out everywhere, prosperity will be raining down upon you, we will have the new age," she added.

Trump has often been attacked for promising big results without explaining the policies he would implement to achieve them, the network noted, and Clinton expressed "mock regret" for the GOP's "flamboyant front-runner."

"I have to say, I kind of wish I had this same sort of mentality [on policy]," she told a crowd of students at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. "I have to admit, Donald Trump is entertaining."

The former secretary of state and the former "Apprentice" personality have known each other for years -- and were once friendly enough for the Clintons to attend Trump's latest wedding in 2005.

"I didn't know him that well" ahead of the nuptials, the former first lady told reporters in August, according to The Hill. "I mean, I knew him. I knew him and I happened to be planning to be in Florida and I thought it'd be fun to go to his wedding, because it's always entertaining."

Trump, for his part, has made significant contributions to the Clinton Foundation, and the charity has received at least $100,000 from the businessman over the years. The gifts did not go unnoticed by his GOP rivals, and some challengers in the 2016 White House race have criticized Trump for his close ties to the Democratic heavyweights.

"I gave to a foundation that, frankly, that foundation is supposed to do good," Trump replied. "I didn't know that her money would be used on private jets going all over the world."
