Actress Ana Brenda Contreras opened up about cancelling her wedding and filing for divorce from Alejandro Amaya in her latest magazine interview.

The "Lo imperdonable" actress graced the cover of People en Español's Mexico edition. In the issue, she discussed her failed marriage to Amaya, one of Mexico's most popular Matadors.

"I don't wish on anyone, what I lived through," reads the headline on the magazine cover. The actress was asked if Amaya had been unfaithful. While she did respond, her answer wasn't very clear.

"[The divorce] was an unfortunate result because it wasn't an easy phase, and I don't wish this on anybody," she said. "It's not the responsibility of one person, it's of two, and I take away the learning experience."

Several rumors have gone around about the reasons behind their divorce. Lili Estefan discussed Contreras and Amaya on an episode of "El Gordo y la Flaca," saying that their divorce had to do with the bullfighter's bisexuality.

However, Contreras made no mention of that issue and has remained quiet about the specific details, as the couple did when they released a statement announcing the postponement of their wedding, just a few days before it was to take place, back in 2013.

The statement also revealed that the couple was still together, regardless of the cancellation of their wedding, reported Latin Times.

"So we won't create speculation we inform you that they remain together and their reasons are personal," the statement read.

In the magazine interview, Contreras explained that she chose divorce because "it's preferable than living unhappily."

"It's better than living in a marriage that doesn't work, with someone that doesn't let you be, that cuts your wings or with someone that doesn't allow you be a better person. That is unacceptable," she added.
