Mexico is the home to one of largest fan bases of the Pittsburgh Steelers and that is one of the reasons why they want to play their international game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the country.

It is official that Steelers will have their international game this year, but the place is not yet confirmed. Previous exhibition games were held in Montreal, Barcelona, London, and Tokyo. However, its been years since the team competed directly south of the border. This time, the Pittsburg Steelers are looking forward to playing in Mexico.

Art Rooney, President of the Pittsburgh Steelers, said, "We continue to raise our hand and say we're interested in playing a game in Mexico."

Rooney added during the interview that, "They have to work out the logistics and all the pieces of the puzzle to have a game down there. Our first choice would be to play a game in Mexico if we have an international trip."

The Steelers are expected to have an international game this year, and one of them is their match against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Meanwhile, it has been rumored that the Jaguars will have a game in London, England sometime this year.

They did an exhibition game in Mexico way back in 2000 and have conducted several clinics in the previous years showing interest in playing in the country again.

Meanwhile, there are yet to be any official schedules released by the NFL in regards to international games, but the Steelers are hopeful that once the schedule is made available, they will have their match in Mexico.

Fans of the Steelers call themselves bleed black and gold in Mexico. It can be remembered that one fan of the Steelers said in 2015 that "My heart and soul are yellow and black, but my passion and pride are made of steel."

Many are now waiting for the schedules of the international games of the NFL. According to a reliable source the schedule may be released this Spring, but for the meantime the Steelers and their fans have to wait.

Rooney told local news, "I don't have an update. We continue to raise our hand and say we're interested in playing a game in Mexico and who knows if - first of all, I don't even know if they have announced there will be a game in Mexico this year."

Rooney has maintained for years that his team would be willing to play outside the country under the right circumstances. What is confirmed for the meantime are their opponents this 2020 and that also includes their road games this season.

Moreover, Jacksonville has played in London several times and if Pittsburgh will leave the country to have a match with the Jaguars, Rooney said that they prefer to have it in Mexico where they have a large number of fans. Mexico is also a neutral ground for both teams.
