Sony Interactive Entertainment recently announced its newly redesigned PlayStation 5 controller dubbed DualSense. The controller will have a new design, haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a built-in microphone; all are sure to catch the attention of avid gamers.

CONFIRMED FEATURES

Sony has not yet totally unveiled the controller's looks. However, here are some confirmed features of the DualSense:

Haptic Feedback and Force Triggers

  • These features give players a more realistic feel than the regular rumble. This used to be the standard for previous controllers, but this time, Sony is offering a new and more engaging controller that every gamer will surely love.

From Share Button to Create Button

  • Since Sony has changed the Share Button into a Create Button, this means that users will have more options in sharing clips and screenshots.

Built-in Microphone

  • Other new features of the PlayStation 5 includes the built-in microphone. This will give each player ease in playing without any additional accessory. Though, there some negative feedback on the built-in microphone in the previous PS controllers, but hopefully, this time, it is better.

OTHER EXPECTED FEATURES

There are also other expected features for the newest PlayStation5 controller, and that includes the color combination. Sony might expect that Microsoft will make an all-black controller. It is for this reason that they decided to have a color combination of black and white.

The controller is mostly white, but its bars and consoles are all in black—a perfect two-toned combination of colors black and white.

It is no question that this controller will polarize once it's released later this year. Many are now very excited to as to when will be the official launching of the DualSense. Meanwhile, after the announcement, many also wonder why Sony somehow changed things up and did go to their traditional design.

According to Hideaki Nishino, senior vice president of platform planning and management at Sony Interactive Entertainment, the DualSense will let a player experience "a variety of powerful sensations you'll feel when you play, such as the slow grittiness of driving a car through the mud."

He also added: "We also incorporated adaptive triggers into the L2 and R2 buttons of DualSense so you can truly feel the tension of your actions, like when drawing a bow to shoot an arrow."

As to the Create Button Nishino explains that "With Create, we're once again pioneering new ways for players to create epic gameplay content to share with the world, or just to enjoy for themselves. We'll have more details on this feature as we get closer to launch."

Meanwhile, Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment said: "DualSense marks a radical departure from our previous controller offerings and captures just how strongly we feel about making a generational leap with PS5. The new controller, along with the many innovative features in PS5, will be transformative for games - continuing our mission at PlayStation to push the boundaries of play, now and in the future."

Ryan also said that they unveil the full features of the new controller in the coming months and will make sure to launch the controller before 2020 ends.
