The high school senior from Long Island who was accepted to all eight Ivy League schools announced that he will go to Yale University.

Kwasi Enin announced his decision to head to the New Haven, Conn. school during a news conference at William Floyd High School on Wednesday, reports NBC News.

Enin, who scored a 2250 out of 2400 on the SAT, was also accepted to Duke University and three SUNY schools.

"My heart skipped a beat when he told me he was applying to all eight," said Nancy Winkler, Enin's guidance counselor at William Floyd High School, according to USA Today. "It's a big deal when we have students apply to one or two Ivies. To get into one or two is huge. It was extraordinary."

Enin, whose parents are Ghanaian, took almost a dozen advance placement classes in high school. He also plays the violin, is a member of an a cappella group and volunteers at a hospital's radiology department.

However, he says he choose Yale because of its stellar music programs and the financial aid package it granted him.

At the conference held in the school gym, Enin acknowledged the role that his parents and educators played in his academic career.

"Without their assistance, I would not be in this position," he said. "I would not have had the initial drive to strive for excellence."

His proud mother, a nurse, said her son is "proving himself to be on the right path."

"We are so proud and so excited about all that he has achieved," she added.

His father, who is also a nurse, said he has always been strict about his children's grades in school. "I told him, 'Look, your worst grade in school should be a 95,'" he said.

Enin says that he plans to go to medical school to become a doctor as well.
